Our Responsibility
As one of China’s most rapidly growing steel companies, we take our responsibility to protect the environment seriously.
That is why in late 2008, we invested in bringing two, state-of-the-art, blast furnaces online at our largest subsidiary, Shaanxi Longmen Steel Co., Ltd. joint venture ("Longmen"). Each blast furnace is 1,280 cubic meters and has a pig-iron production capacity of 1 million tons annually. We are pleased to highlight the fact that these furnaces use less energy and require only one-third of the manpower to operate than our older blast furnaces at Longmen.
Founded on a merger and acquisition platform, General Steel is in the business of expanding aggregate capacity, reducing key raw material inputs and increasing profitability. And undoubtedly, these furnaces have helped us cater to the robust demand for construction-related steel in China's undeveloped central and western regions. But equally as important, is growing efficiently, in a way that reduces our carbon footprint.
